I have just agreed to rent a 4acre field next to my cottage, to save it from being turned into yet another bulb field. It is such a beautiful space - south facing with a stream hidden in amongst willow, running along the bottom of it. I think the only disadvantage maybe that it is slightly slopping but I don't plan on pitching a tent on it! In fact I don't really have any plans for it at all, apart from to share with my 14 chickens but I would like to have something more exciting than just putting horses on it. I do have to have someone to share the rent though and to help/advise on it's upkeep. I have only just found out about landshare and still don't know too much about this scheme but I do like the basic concepts that I have have managed to grasp so far. I love learning useful crafts/skills, my best so far is making raw fleece blankets. I think I could learn to make cob structures with all the willow and slop at the bottom of the field. I am also interested in growing food successfully for my family and imagine being so good at it that I can go around my local area with a horse and cart offering produce on a small scale. But maybe my head is in the clouds too much... PS. I love sculpture and art

lanner_growers

Hi we are a young married couple living in Lanner and we obtained our allotment plot through Landshare! Our land lady found us on here last year and we have had a plot since May 2009. We had to start our plot from fresh as the area was just a field when we started, but we still managed to grow quite a lot in the first year - we didn't have to buy a carrot for months and still had plenty to give away! The second year was much better because the plot is more established and we can grow a lot more! We are thinking of getting a few chickens to add to the plot too! Thank you to Landshare for giving us the opportunity to grow more veg!

Im 29 years old, and want to do something worthwhile and meaningful with my evening and weekends. Apart from using a shovel a few times, I have no previous gardening experience but am keen to learn what will grow when, how and where!!. Looking for a site reletively close to Redruth (within walking/cycling distance). I am not scared of hard work, while at the same time not taking myself too seriously! I also work in a place which sells many gardening supplies! =)

Hi, My family & I have a kitchen garden that we are busting out of, & with the soaring cost of food we need some more space to grow more of our own. We like to be able to trust the source of our food, & know it is as fresh as possible. We would ideally like to get a polytunnel up to extend our growing season & would like to keep some chickens too if possible. Please contact me if you can help at all.....many thanks, warm wishes, Niki

Hello! My name is Harry Rowland, I'm a young musician from the wild west Yorkshire! I moved down to Truro last year to Study the BA jazz course at Truro college. I love being outside. I have a good knowledge of wood and trees (mainly through instrument repair work). I have worked on small holdings, and a large country estate. I can dig, grow, drive a tractor and operate other heavy machinery, I also make pretty decent cups of tea! I like the idea of growing, but as a student I have nowhere to do this.

I am a hungry graduate looking for a place to start my adventure into permaculture. I desire to grow my own food but first I have two main problems: All of my knowledge is theoretical and I have no where to put said theoretical knowledge into practice. I have been interested in sustainable development for quite a long time, I have just spent the past three years studying Geography at degree level not only to further appreciate the impact we have on the environment but also how the environment impacts our lives. Unfortunately I didn't seem to learn anything especially useful therefore I am joining this scheme with the hopes of gaining an insight into the world of Permanent Agriculture.
