I'm Gemma, I'm involved with a community sustainability project called Ashby 2020, and I'm open to questions, comments and any involvement :) Landshare is one of three top ideas I am trying to promote (because let's face it, it really is a top idea) - I'd like to speak to and encourage those using the landshare site already (possibly using cups of tea and biscuits) and drum up some more support for it (and locate land of course) through word of mouth, word of internet, and promotion at local events. Basically, Ashby 2020 aims to make Ashby a sustainable town by targeting six primary areas: food & water, energy, travel, waste, the built environment, and commerce and finance. I also want to improve community spirit. You can never have enough of that. Changing all these things at once would be hard, but if everyone starts with one idea they're interested in (like growing their own produce and promoting biodiversity) we can make a substantial difference. I'd like to hear from people in the area that would like more info or would be interested in getting involved and promoting things like Landshare. Ashby 2020 has a website, and can be found on Facebook and Twitter if that's your thing. If you follow the project there (or send me your email address) I'll be able to give you updates on events we're getting involved in and come along to say hello (wouldn't that be nice?). Totally obligation free, if you only want to converse online... I'd just like to know if there are like-minded folks out there, and I'm really quite friendly. And occassionally a bit ridiculous. But on the whole, completely harmless ;o)
