rockchick

I was born and raised in the countryside and enjoy gardening, when time allows. I keep four horses, ferrets and chickens - light sussex and orpingtons. Along with my husband I work in the motorcycle trade and I am a keen motorcyclist who avoids using the car unless necessary. Also a connoisseur of HM rock music.

Hedgerow Farm

I own a small plot of land nr Rowlands Castle where I keep my horses. Some of this land for various reasons cannot be used for grazing. I have always thought it would make a good allotment but do not have enough free time to dedicate to it. There is probably enough free land for a couple of people to share or one very energetic person. There is a ready supply of well rotted manure, water, electricity and even room for a tool shed.

I am lucky to own a property with 24 acres of land which is mostly used for horses but i have some areas that are completely wasted. I would love to start growing vegetables etc at home but have no idea where to start! Ideally I am looking for someone to help me or even just for someone who wants to utilise the land themselves.

I am a 41 year old who has been dabbling in the self sufficient lifestyle on and off for about 5 years. I have kept pigs, chickens, made sauces, chutneys, pickles and even started a small company that I sold in 2009. Myself and my wife are now looking to start our own small holding and require approximately 1-1.5 acres of land to accommodate the following: 3 Rare breed pigs 4 Sheep 20 Chickens 4 Pollytunnels Any help trying to find this land around the Gosport, Fareham, Hill Head area would be greatly received

My partner and I have 6 children and we would love to have the opportunity to teach them how to provide for themselves and show them where their food comes from. We are keen fishermen and the children love to catch fish for their dinner so they have already started. We live in a 2nd floor flat with no outside space for growing anything apart from in a window box so growing veggies is not possible at home. Long term we hope to be able to have our own smallholding (dreams of a farm) but at the moment are restricted by finances and really don't even know where to start on that path to finding one etc....

Looking for somewhere to grow veggies for my family

Im an agricultural degree graduate. I specialised in livestock and market vegetable production. I have a small family and am joining forces with some family friends. I wish to use my knowledge and experience to produce food for our family kitchens. We are looking for one or two plots of land to achieve the afore mentioned needs. Will exchange labour, skills and possibly produce ,if necessary, for land provided.

My name is John. I am semi retired, pretty fit, do manual voluntry work with the local council Countryside rangers, and am a qualified pond warden. Manual work is fine with me, I will see any task through to the end and am not afraid of getting mucky! I was born on a farm and raised there until the age of about 8 so I have a bit of a connection with the land. I was a self employed boatbuilder - wood, not plastic- for a number of years so I know about woodworking.

earthmaiden

earthmaiden - all these letters are contained in my name -and finally have come to a place where this is manifesting -on the edge of beautiful, mostly unspoit countryside, with the Sustainability Centre a couple of miles away;volunteering there can facilitate your learning of creative co-operation for the greater good of the earth.Luckily have a 20' x 14' patch of garden, which hasn't been dug over for 20 years. This, i intend to turn into apermaculture/forest garden space, with the idea of illustrating to other residents, what could be done if we all used the communal areas (sheets of lawn and tarmac) to grow food and create a resilient community. Have quickly learned, that however great your own inspirations, people will only join in when you takethings at their pace -at the mo' it's a case of "but we can get it at the shops!".- so alot of talking and digging to be done...anyone else in similar position -my advice is just to keep on keeping on.
