How much should a council be prepared to pay for allotments? Can they charge the allotment holders? How much should an allotment be?

Hello jackclog,

Different councils pay different amounts for allotments all over the country. They're fully within their right to charge allotment holders and again there is huge variation in the amount they charge. There was an article written about this very subject in the Guardian last year:
http://www.guardian.co.uk/news/datablog/2011/nov/10/allotments-rents-waiting-list

A recent survey shows how many people are applying for allotments here:

Hope this helps, sorry it's not better news!

Regards,
JAKE
