54 years old, former professional gardener, 20 years experience, passionate about veg. used to have an allotment years ago, we were pretty much self-sufficient then. ok, its hard work, but the taste more than makes up for that.
i'd like a bit of land to grow a few bits on. allotments are not an option, locally. doubt that i will live long enough to get to the top of the waiting list!
does anyone in the forest of dean have a plot of land - perhaps about an acre - that could be used for a community group?
ok, i'm very much flying a kite at the moment, but i've seen the various "men in sheds" projects around the country. essentially, this is an idea which promotes links between men aged 50+ who have been subject to life-changing circumstances which has resulted in them becoming socially isolated
nothing similar seems to be happening here, and i have the existing skills - particularly with making many successful bids to government funds - to drive something like this forward. but that would depend on having a suitable piece of land that could be used for a group allotment project
requirements would be good access, the potential to make the plot reasonably secure, and no restrictions - subject to whatever planning permission might be necessary - on erecting structures
i'm NOT looking for a guarantee of land at this point, only an offer, subject to funding being secured
if you think you can help, i would be happy to discuss your potential offer personally
